OUR HISTORY:

Inclusive Justice (IJ) is a Michigan tax-exempt 501 (C) (3) charitable organization that seeks to create a strong statewide interfaith coalition to address lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQIA+) inclusion issues. We are organized in the belief that people of faith, queer and allies alike, can most effectively advocate together for issues of equity and inclusion.

The foundation for IJ dates back to 1993, when the Michigan office of the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) helped mobilize support within the state's religious communities for persons of all sexual orientations and gender. This evolved into a state-wide Faith Action Network that sought to help churches and political leaders understand equality issues and the spiritual imperative to welcome and protect all of our neighbors. It became apparent that when people of faith were well organized and acting together, those efforts resulted in the work toward justice.
